INTRODUCTION

Nepal Physical Society (NPS) was founded in 2039 B. S. (1983 A.D.) with the mission of advancing and diffusing knowledge of physics throughout the country. Since its conception, the Society has been conducting various activities including seminars, symposiums, workshops and lecture programs regularly in order to promote research as well as physics education of the country. It comprises of all the physicists of the country and abroad. Recently, the Society has also established four newsworthy chapters in accordance with geographical regions to accumulate information about current physics education and ongoing research.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To work towards a steady growth of activities in the areas of physics.
  2. To encourage and assist activities in physics directed towards the application of physics concepts and methods in all related fields.
  3. To strive towards enhancing the quality of physics teaching and research in physics.
  4. To disseminate the knowledge and applications of physics among its members.
  5. To endeavor towards strengthening career prospects in physics by establishing various awards.
  6. To establish relations with other international physics societies for the development of physics research as well as physics education in Nepal.


MEMBERSHIP

The Society comprises of four different categories of members:

  1. General Members
  2. Life Members
  3. Honorary Members
  4. Associate Members

Membership Eligibility:
Those who have a Master’s degree in physics or in applied physics are eligible for becoming members of the Society.
Persons having active interest in physics and with a Master’s degree in science or its equivalent are also eligible for the general membership.
Honorary Membership, on a lifelong basis, is awarded to person on recognition by the Society for significant individual contribution in the field of physics.
Those with a Bachelor of Science degree with physics can become Associate Members of the Society.

LINKAGES WITH OTHER PROFESSIONAL BODIES
The Society is a member of Asian Physical Society (APSO).The Society is also a founding member of the Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies (AAPPS).The Society has established reciprocal relation with American Physical Society (APS).
